DESCRIPTION:The team from VALOI set up their brand-new easy35 v2 scanning systems at NYC Film lab (Williamsburg) for you to check out and test.\n\n\nCurious about camera scanning? Ready to take control of your scanning workflow and gain full creative control over your shots? VALOI\, in collaboration with Roberts Distributors and NYC Film Lab\, invites the analog community to join us at Rite Coffee to scan. It’s that simple. \n \nVALOI makes tools to scan your film with a camera at home- or at a café! Get hands-on experience with the VALOI camera scanning workflow\, where we will showcase our easy product line\, the easy35 and easy120. You will be able to see and handle our scanning tools in person\, and give them a test drive! Bring your 35mm or 120 negatives\, and we’ll guide you through scanning your first roll and achieving the conversions you want. Get professional results quickly. We’ll provide all the hardware and software you need to digitize your rolls. Don’t have negatives on hand? No problem. Join us anyway as we scan and sip. Our team will be available to answer questions\, advise on setups\, and provide real-time scanning demos. \n \nWe are also excited to announce guest slots with Sissi Lu and Caleb “bad flashes” Knueven. In the VALOI x Sissi session\, we will dive into scanning half-frame 35mm film and how to get a “punchy” Frontier-style look. In the Caleb x VALOI session\, we will cover how to get the best conversion from typically challenging stocks like “Phoenix.” \n \n\nScanning with Caleb Knueven: Friday 3:30pm\nScanning with Sissi Lu: Saturday 2pm\n\n \nYou can sign up for a dedicated time slot to guarantee a scanning session\, or simply drop in during event hours (11am–4pm) on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th May to see what we’re up to and watch film scanning in action. \n \nTICKET INFO: If you have a ticket to the Film Forever Kick Off Day\, you’ll receive discount codes for this and all other weekend programs!

SUMMARY:Let There Be Light: Flash On Film
DESCRIPTION:Flash On Film Workshop hosted by Exposure Therapy!\n\n\nLet There Be Light! Flash on Film: What works\, what won’t\, and how to achieve repeatable results.  \nWe will walk participants through different use cases for three types of on-camera flashes (the Keks manual type flash\, a traditional thyristor type “auto” flash\, and built-in flashes like canon rebel/point and shoots). Will review the advantages and disadvantages of each type and suggest techniques for achieving sharp\, well-exposed images with any of them in a variety of scenarios. Will also discuss situations in which flash is a non-obvious but incredibly useful tool (daylight fill for all types of photography\, intentional slow sync effect for event/nightlife\, etc).
