DESCRIPTION:NICE FILM CLUB presents: Photographer Martha Naranjo Sandova\n\n\nAt On Material Practice\, Nice Film Club partners with Film Forever Weekend to present artist talks. Photographers whose practices move across distinct subjects\, methods\, and visual languages\, yet remain deeply connected through their engagement with archive and analog image-making. \nMartha Naranjo Sandoval’s long-term projects use 35mm film as a diaristic and intimate tool\, building personal archives that examine migration\, memory\, sequencing\, and the emotional weight carried by everyday images. \nThe conversation explores how film and analog materials shape the way artists see\, remember\, and construct narratives. Moving between the personal and the political\, the archival and the immediate\, the talks will consider how photographers use analog tools not only as aesthetic choices but as frameworks for thinking — about time\, authorship\, and the evolving role of the archive in contemporary practice. \nHosted by Nice Film Club in their upstairs showroom\, this program invites audiences into an open dialogue on the continued relevance of film photography today\, highlighting the diverse ways artists build meaning through process\, material\, and image history.

Ready to take control of your scanning workflow and gain full creative control over your shots? VALOI\, in collaboration with Roberts Distributors and NYC Film Lab\, invites the analog community to join us at Rite Coffee to scan. It’s that simple. \n \nVALOI makes tools to scan your film with a camera at home- or at a café! Get hands-on experience with the VALOI camera scanning workflow\, where we will showcase our easy product line\, the easy35 and easy120. You will be able to see and handle our scanning tools in person\, and give them a test drive! Bring your 35mm or 120 negatives\, and we’ll guide you through scanning your first roll and achieving the conversions you want. Get professional results quickly. We’ll provide all the hardware and software you need to digitize your rolls. Don’t have negatives on hand? No problem. Join us anyway as we scan and sip. Our team will be available to answer questions\, advise on setups\, and provide real-time scanning demos. \n \nWe are also excited to announce guest slots with Sissi Lu and Caleb “bad flashes” Knueven. In the VALOI x Sissi session\, we will dive into scanning half-frame 35mm film and how to get a “punchy” Frontier-style look.
